Les yeux fermés takes us between past and present on the trail of an enduring mystery. In the early evening of September 21, 1994, 15-year-old Simon Dénommé hopped on his bike to go to the corner store. He never came back. The next day, his body was fished out of the river. Nearly three decades later, his sister Élise, 38, now a high school teacher, remains obsessed with her brother's death. The apparent suicide has ripped through the family, turning her life upside down, leaving their mother Lorraine racked with guilt and pain and causing their father, Denis, to move out, feeling humiliated and betrayed.
Needing to know what had pushed Simon to the point of no return, Élise's determination to get to the bottom of things brings to light the wounds inflicted by the event, still unhealed. The more she digs, the murkier it all becomes. What really happened? Her quest for the truth leads her into the family archives, dissecting photo albums and tracking down those from the past who knew the boy well, including Simon's best friend Berge and Philippe, a former pastoral worker turned bishop.
